About our crowdfunding campaing:
We have launched a crowdfunding campaign to acquire the equipment necessary to record high-resolution time-stamped videos of the eclipse flash spectrum from the very edge of the umbral shadow path, during the 2023 annular-total eclipse in Australia.
It will remain open until Feb 6th 2022.
How we will use the funds
This new equipment, a full frame RAW video camera and a CCD camera with integrated GPS, will hopefully allow an estimation of the solar radius with exceptional sensitivity and will allow unprecedented testing of the results of eclipse computational models.
The importance of our experiment
After the publication on The Astrophysical journal supplement of our measurements during the 2017 American Eclipse this subject has gained momentum in the community, expecially for its implication in the accuracy of eclipse contact times estimation.
We also hope to convince other eclipse chasers to follow our proposed method of contact times determination and start collecting measurements of the solar radius for studying its variability in time
